My biggest learning is that everything takes time. When we see success stories of entrepreneurs, it always look like they got to success very quickly. In reality it takes a long time and a lot of hard work to get to each milestone. Setting expectations correctly is so important because then you can celebrate the progress you've made instead of getting discouraged when that progress takes time.

I am very grateful that I had 15 years of corporate experience before I started my business. This allowed me to learn from many mentors. I learned how to sell, write proposals, follow up, build collateral material, develop strong client relationships etc. So, my advice would be to get some experience working for other people before you start your own business. Find a great business or mentor who has already done what you want to do and go learn from them. This will allow you to accelerate your learning and avoid many costly mistakes before you start your own venture.

Additionally, seek out accomplished women who are open to providing assistance. Success often leaves tangible hints—whether in literature (I'm an avid reader) or in the achievements of others (learning from their missteps). Entrepreneurship can be isolating, but it doesn't need to be. Immerse yourself in a supportive network of like-minded women at different stages of their journeys. Don't hesitate to seek guidance.
