Embrace Mistakes for Growth
To young women embarking on the entrepreneurial path, my advice is to boldly experiment and embrace the multitude of mistakes you'll inevitably make. Don't shield yourself from failure, as it's through these experiences that you'll find liberation and growth. Testing various approaches and learning from each misstep will not only refine your vision but also strengthen your resilience. Each error is a step towards unlocking your full potential. Set your ego aside for the sake of growth, and be prepared to pivot or start afresh when necessary. An idea forms only half of the journey; its true potential is unlocked through execution. Be flexible and open to evolving your strategy based on the insights gained along the way.

Embrace Failure as Growth
To young women aspiring to be entrepreneurs or already on the journey, I offer these words of encouragement and advice:
Embrace the Hustle: Building a successful business requires dedication, hard work, and a willingness to go the extra mile. Be prepared to hustle, wear multiple hats, and face challenges head-on. But remember, the hustle shouldn't come at the expense of your well-being. Find ways to work smart and prioritize self-care to ensure long-term sustainability.
Find Your Passion: The path to entrepreneurship is often fueled by passion. Identify what ignites your fire, what problem you're passionate about solving, or what product or service you're truly excited to bring to the world. This passion will guide you through challenging times and fuel your long-term commitment.
Believe in Yourself: Self-doubt is a common hurdle, but don't let it hold you back. Believe in your capabilities, your vision, and your ability to make a difference. Remember, some of the world's most inspiring entrepreneurs started with just an idea and unwavering belief in themselves.
Seek Mentorship and Build a Support Network: Surround yourself with positive and supportive individuals who believe in you and your dreams. Seek guidance from mentors who can offer valuable advice and share their experiences. Having a strong network of peers, colleagues, and mentors can be invaluable on your entrepreneurial journey.
Don't Be Afraid to Fail: Failure is an inevitable part of the learning process. Embrace setbacks as opportunities for growth and refinement. Learn from your mistakes, adapt your approach, and keep moving forward. Remember, even the most successful entrepreneurs have experienced failures along the way.
Celebrate Your Wins: Take the time to celebrate your achievements, big and small. Recognizing your progress and acknowledging your hard work will keep you motivated and help you maintain positive momentum.
Be Bold and Innovative: As a woman entrepreneur, you have the unique potential to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the table. Don't be afraid to challenge the status quo and forge your own path. Your unique voice and approach can be a powerful asset in a competitive landscape.
Finally, remember that the entrepreneurial journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Be patient, stay focused, and never stop learning and growing. With dedication, passion, and the right support system, you can achieve remarkable things.

Fail Forward
It’s never too early or too late to start a business. Many founders I know are younger than me, and I always thought I wasn’t ready. The reality is you never are ready. You learn on the job, just like any other job, so the big thing to do is just to decide and then jump. I started this company because the former Chairman of the NHS pushed me to start this, without me realising he felt the solution I had in my head had a chance of success. His ‘push’ then started me on a fantastic journey, but if he hadn’t pushed me, I might never have started it.
For every supporter you have, there are 5 who will tell you how you’re going to fail. It’s a slippery slope. I’ve learned to surround myself with kind people and ignore the terrible voices of doom. Accept that failure is part of the journey to learn how to succeed, so then just move with speed to get through both the failures and the successes. Learn from the failures, test out the successes and make sure they are successes and then keep moving.
Having great supporters is key when the days look long and nothing has gone right that day. Getting approval and understanding was key for me before I started this journey. When I didn’t have time to spend with my own family or prioritised work over family, they were incredibly understand.
I also learned its very easy to become obsessed with what you’re building but it cannot be the whole of who you are. I have accepted while building this business that regardless of the outcome I will give it my best shot and that it’ll be a journey full of ups and downs and embrace all of it.
When competition copies from you, it’s upsetting, but then you don’t have time to wallow in self-pity. You need to move on.
I also obsess over the customer. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the customer. If we are a good solution for their problems the product will have a long life and the business will grow and be sustainable. That’s what I constantly have to remind myself of and then keep learning and moving.
