The 10k Challenge: Starting Small to Grow Big

It's really simple: find a way to make an extra 10k over the next 12 months just by doing something you're good at.

Why?

This is an attainable goal. Everyone loves to sit and daydream about making their first million. Well, before you can make a million, you have to make 500k, and before you can make 500k, you have to make 100k, and before you can make 100k... well, you get the point. The 10k Challenge gets you off the couch and puts you on the road to making your first million.

You will tap on your skill set. If I challenged you to go out and make a million in the next 12 months, you'd probably be chasing a bunch of different shiny bucks in hopes of finding the silver bullet that would make you achieve that unrealistic goal. At the end of the 12-month period, not only will you most likely not have met your goal, but you may be in a worse position than when you started. But when you ask someone to go out and make relatively little money in a reasonable amount of time, they usually start by leveraging marketable skills and talents they already have.

You will try many different things. Earning 10,000 in 12 months means you can try a lot of different things and see what works and what doesn't. When you start small, you're more inclined to test many different ideas rather than double down on an unproven idea. Many of the things you try won't work, some will generate a little side cash, but some will be really scalable opportunities.

At least for now you will most likely get the business you need to run. The people I've seen complete this challenge usually find their first business that's right for them and go well beyond the original 10k goal.

Overcoming the Fear of Starting: Trusting Your Gut and Making Plans

Take the leap, the hardest thing is to start something. But trust your gut feeling. It can be so scary to start a new venture or to go solo. But the outcome is worth it.

To kickstart a 5 year plan, this could be financial goals, personal goals or operations to scale. Set the plan out with actions of how you believe realistically you will achieve this. Stick to the plan! In the first year, you are likely to be half way through the plan. It will give you guidance on how to grow your business. Things will change, so don't be alarmed but trust the process, you have got this!
